Tutoring Towards Equity

Hawaiʻi Tutoring

HawaiiKidsCAN and Air Tutors team up for a truly unique educational experience designed to bring students to grade level and beyond. The collaboration ensures that students in Hawaiʻi are matched to an expert educator that will focus on advancing their skill sets and growing them as individuals.

We want all kids to have the opportunity – no matter where they live – to recover from learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and get ahead to achieve their potential.

Scholarships Available:

Full and partial scholarships are available on a rolling basis with the average value of scholarships at $400. Specific scholarship amounts will be based on services needed and financial circumstances. While additional grants will enable Hawaii Tutoring to offer additional scholarships, we encourage families to apply quickly.

Current Tutoring Experience

In our spring cohort, weekly math sessions are held on Monday and Wednesday, with reading/literacy on Tuesday and Thursday. Most students are logging on at home, where they work closely in small groups of students at similar grade levels. The students build relationships with their tutors, who serve as encouraging mentors.

Before my son started the Hawai’i Tutoring program he did not like to read because he wasn’t confident in himself. After a couple of sessions I started to see he that he was gaining confidence and would excitedly ask to read. His tutor Elizabeth is really nice and would make lessons for him to do that made reading fun. I would really recommend this program to all families who have children needing tutoring
